Driver CPC

What is Driver CPC ?

The Certificate of Professional Competence is being introduced across Europe to attain high standards of driving and improve road safety. This is ongoing periodic training to maintain your LGC and PCV licence.

Either do 35 hours in year 5, or 7 hours per year for 5 years.

How it Applies

A Driver CPC lasts for 5 years, during that time you will need to complete 35 hours of periodic training to drive professionally.

If you held a full D or D1 licence prior to 10th September 2008, you will have been granted a Driver CPC for 5 years ie until 10th September 2013. To drive legally after 10th September 2013, you must have completed 35 hours of training with a recognised and registered training provider before that date.

If you held a full C or C1 licence prior to 10th September 2009, you will have been granted a Driver CPC for 5 years ie until 10th September 2014. To drive legally after 10th September 2014, you must have completed 35 hours of training with a recognised and registered training provider before that date.

If you hold a C, C1, D, D1 after the above dates, your Driver CPC is valid for 5 years from your test date.

Any lorry of 3.5 tons and upwards and minibuses with 9 seats or more are covered by Driver CPC.
