LGV \/ PCV Driving Test<\/h2>\n

Lorry (LGV) and passenger carrying vehicles (PCV) (categories C & C1, D & D1) Practical Driving Test \u2013 Module 3 \u2013 1.5 hours<\/strong><\/p>\n

The practical driving test is required when upgrading a license to a higher vehicle category e.g. from D to D+E, C1 to C, C to C+E.<\/p>\n

North Lancs Training provides the required driving lessons in approved vehicles in preparation for the tests.<\/p>\n

The LGV driving test and PCV driving test include the following parts:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Controlled Area Manoeuvring<\/h5>\n

In a controlled area you will be examined on your general driving, and on set exercises which will include:<\/p>\n

An \u2018S\u2019 shaped reverse into a bay
\nA braking exercise
\nDemonstrating the uncoupling and re-coupling procedure if you\u2019re taking a trailer test<\/p>\n

The Road Drive<\/h5>\n

The drive on the road will last for about 60 minutes and the overall test takes about 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

The driving test includes an Eco-Safe driving assessment. The examiner will assess your vehicle control to see if your driving is eco-friendly. This will not go against you if you don\u2019t, however the examiner will give you a leaflet regarding this at the end of the test if you have not complied with the eco-friendly element of the test.<\/p>\n

Vehicle safety questions for lorries and buses<\/h5>\n

These are basic safety checks that a driver should carry out to ensure the vehicle is safe for use. Although some checks may involve the candidate in opening the bonnet to identify where fluid levels would be checked, candidates will not be asked to touch a hot engine or physically check fluid levels.<\/p>\n

As vehicle technology advances, more and more vehicles are being equipped with electronic diagnostic systems, which inform the driver of the state of the engine fluid levels and tyre pressures. It will be acceptable for a candidate to refer to the vehicle information system (if fitted) when answering questions on fluid levels or tyre pressures.<\/p>\n

Drivers seeking vocational licence entitlement should be experienced and technically expert, the assessment criteria reflects this.<\/p>\n

What vehicle do I use<\/h5>\n
